Why Private Perinatal Yoga offers your Best Outcome

During pregnancy, the amount of change and growth occurring in your body is hard to comprehend. Most pregnant people will experience some level of physical, mental or emotional discomfort at some stage during their pregnancy and certainly during labour and birth.

Whether you are feeling some niggling discomforts that you wish to ‘nip in the bud’, some uncertainty about pre-existing conditions and how to manage them comfortably during your pregnancy or wanting to be more confident and prepared for birthing and postpartum, a private class allows the time and space to address all your needs - physical, mental and emotional.

Your Best Outcome

  • When was the last time you felt fully seen and heard in a group environment?

  • Do you tend to find generalisations about pregnant and postpartum people supportive or dismissive of your experience?

Every matrescence journey is unique - even if you have already had a child or children before. This consideration is at the heart of a tailored private class.

Here are some reasons why your best outcome in perinatal yoga is likely to be in a private setting:

1. A safe environment to explore a new experience

Even if you have practiced yoga before, Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga are very different. The movements are different, the focus is different and you might just find that the other limbs of yoga become far more meaningful and beneficial than the asana (postures).

2. Feel more comfortable and less self-conscious

With no other students to worry about judgement or comparison, you are free to be you. Sharing exactly how you are actually feeling and any details that you would keep hidden in a group environment ensure the practices offered really do meet your individual needs, not just the needs we presume you have.

3. Tailored classes to suit your schedule and timeframes

You make the call on how regularly you attend and when you attend. For some people, the consistency of weekly attendance feels very supportive. For others, some home practices will be all that’s needed to sustain you for the month ahead.

4. Reduced incidence of triggers

Group classes can be anxiety-inducing. There may be comments made by other participants, or generalised comments made by the facilitator. Our trauma-informed and expanded approach to care considers your physical and mental health as well as your cultural, social, financial and spiritual context and needs.

6. Practices supportive of your health and wellbeing considerations

No matter whether you have been given the all-clear for exercise or currently have limited mobility due to health considerations, we can work with you where you are. Some people will be ready for a stronger practice, but remember, a complete yoga practice does not even have to include physical postures.
