Spring Equinox has been observed and celebrated as a time of significance since ancient times.
For the local Nyoongar people, this time of year is Djilba - First Spring, the Season of Conception. A time of blossoming wildflowers and newborn animals.
In India, Vasant Navratri starts on the first day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar (the new moon following their spring equinox) and is known as the “Holy Nine Nights of Spring” during which different forms of Shakti (feminine energy) are celebrated.
